Chaplain Curtis Snead - Victim Advocacy and Wellness
BIO:
Curt served as a police officer with the Columbia Police Department and was employed there from 1993 to 2012. It was then, after so much time in Law Enforcement that Curt decided to answer a call to ministry training. Upon completing his seminary education, Curt was ordained in the Presbyterian Church in America for a full time, church and community supported Chaplaincy back with the Columbia Police Department. He has served in this role since 2019.
Curt has received much training in caring for the unique stress and trauma that police officers face and has much of his own experience in these challenges from his career. He is certified by the International Critical Incident Stress Foundation in Critical Incident Stress Management. Curt is also an approved instructor of basic assisting individuals in crisis and basic assisting groups in crisis. He also has the honor of serving as one of the Chaplains for SCLEVA. Emotional, spiritual, and mental health care of Law Enforcement officers has become a passion for Curt and he sees Chaplaincy and peer support as integral pieces of Law Enforcement wellness."
