Jonathan Grooms - The Bond Reform Act: How it Pertains to Victim Advocates and Victims

BIO:

Detective Jonathan Grooms of the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department will delineate the benefits of the Bond Reform Act for victims and victim advocates. He will discuss the language in SC Code 17-15-55 and note how bonds are affected. He will highlight the advantages of the reform as it pertains to victims and GPS monitoring affects. 

Jonathan is a husband and father of one. He started his law enforcement career at the South Carolina Dept. of Mental Health Public Safety before venturing to the Lexington County Sheriff's Dept. During his 22 year he has served as a road patrol deputy, a school resource officer, a part time property crimes investigator, a gang investigator, a narcotics agent, and now currently serves as a victims advocate. He hold a bachelor's degree in criminal justice and an associate's degree in marketing. He is a certified school resource officer, and a certified gang specialist in the states of South Carolina and Virginia. He’s involved with several different youth programs, and currently serves as the head coach for the boy’s junior varsity basketball team, and the assistant head coach of the varsity boys’ basketball team at North High School.
